Niobe

December 3rd, 2011

Niobe experienced incredible neglect and cruelty during the first half of her life – living on a chain, being used for breeding, starved and neglected – yet somehow she her sweet spirit endured. 2 angels on earth liberated Niobe, her 2 small pups and 1 year old daughter and made it their mission to ensure they would be safe, loved and cared for the rest of their days. When I learned about Niobe, she melted my heart at first sight – I couldn’t stop thinking about this “100+ lb pooch”. She had been thru a lot and needed a very special furever home – I wondered if I was worthy. I was blessed with sharing my heart, home and life with Niobe for 2 amazing years. She was my protector, confidante, shadow and friend – she comforted me when I was down, provided lots of entertainment, was BFFs with one cat and tolerated the other’s bullying, and inspired me to advocate for other neglected, abused and homeless pets. Her life was ended too soon by a brain tumor, but she passed knowing love and safety – wiping away the memory of her early years. Rest in peace my sweet Niobe – you will be missed by everyone who’s path you crossed. I’ll see you again some day – until then.
