Sometimes, it seems a young, sweet girl just cannot catch a break so early in her little life!Poor Alessa was dumped at a high kill shelter at the tenderage of 4 months and was scheduled to be put to sleep on Monday, March 12th. Scared and alone, the hours and minutes ticked away on the non-negotiable deadline for rescue commitment, with no hope of rescue in sight. But with just six (6) minutes to spare, AngelsAmong Us Pet Rescue stepped up to give this beautiful, scared girl that second chance at life she was so desperately praying for! That is the stuff happy endings are made of, right? You would certainly hope so, but sadly, it’s not the case for precious Alessa. This poor girl is now fighting for her life yet another time – the second time in as many days!! Now her fight isn’t with staying alive in a shelter until someone came to rescue her – her fight is now with the deadly Parvo virus, so rampant in shelters and so deadly to puppies!!But Angels Rescue does not give up on our rescues and we will not give up on this precious girl having that true second chance athappiness and a life she should have had from the start. We will fully supporther in her time of need – will YOU help support us in saving her life? Please donate to Alessa and give her that happy ending she deserves….a HEALTHY life with a forever family who will love, cherish andcare for her and provide a safe, loving home for the rest of her life!”

Gojiberry
March 11th, 2012
Hi, I’m Gojiberry an Irish Wolfhound mix puppy. You may think I am cute but my brothers and sister are even cuter! I was saved today with my three adorable siblings and already, I have broken with parvo. We were so excited to be Angels dogs on that 1-1/2 hour drive to the vet. But as soon as we got there, I pooed blood on the nice lady helping us at the vet’s office. I didn’t mean to but they tell me I have contracted something called the Parvovirus because my mother was not vaccinated and her owner certainly did not vaccinate us.They didn’t want us anyway and just dumped us like trash at a rural
shelter where Angels found us and saved us. The mean people who dumped us kept our Mom and we miss her a lot! Now, I’m getting very, very sick and I heard the Vet people use the word “critical”, and I don’t know what it means – I just know how bad I feel and how sick I am. Please help me get well by donating to my ChipIn what you can to help Angels and my doctors get me well. I want to live and I want these nice Angels people help me and my family get new safe, forever homes where we’ll be loved for a lifetime!

Moo-Moo
February 28th, 2012
Please help us save Moo-Moo!! He is currently in extremely criticalcondition and we must do all we can to save his life, yet again!!
Moo-Moo is a young dog weighing approximately 11-15 pounds and has
had such a rough start in his short life.
We were so excited just a few days to literally save his life from a high-kill
shelter but now he is in critical condition in one of our animal hospitals and
the doctors have yet to determine what is causing his extreme illness!
He started vomiting and having bloody stools just a few days out of the
shelter and was rushed to Pet Emergency. Thank goodness, he tested
negative for Parvo but he is still vomiting and there is constant, bloody
diarrhea everywhere! He is being giving intravenous fluids and the doctors
are literally fighting to save Moo-Moo’s life…yet again!!
His bills are estimated to go easily as high as $4,000 and we just don’t
have the funds to meet this critical need. We will NOT let Moo-Moo down
– we didn’t save him just to lose him without trying everything we can to get
this sweet little boy well!!
But we desperately need your help! We cannot face this gigantic task of
raising these funds without YOUR support! Won’t you reach out and help
Moo-Moo? He desperately wants to live – he desperately wants to get well
so he can have that 2nd chance at life that we promised him!!!
Please, please, please….give generously, and often!! Thank you, on
behalf of Angels and on behalf of this very sick little dog who’s counting on
all of us to help him make it through this terrible situation!

Francesca
February 26th, 2012
Poor “Cheska”! Our Beautiful Yellow Lab mix Girl is in Trouble!
This precious, 1-year old Yellow Lab mix girl is in a very rough, critical place right
now, and she so needs your help and support!
Sweet Francesca was rushed to the emergency vet hospital at 2:00 a.m. late
Saturday night/early Sunday morning – her foster mom found her unresponsive,
with irregular, eratic breathing and very “cold”! It was a very scary situation and
she had to act fast! She literally grabbed this precious girl now so close to death
in her arms, wrapped her up and rushed her to the hospital….fearing along the
way that Francesca might make her trip across the rainbow bridge before they
could reach the emergency room!
The strange thing is Francesca had been just fine at midnight – alert, responsive,
happy – what happened during those two hours?? No one knows at this point!
The emergency vets think perhaps she may have had an allergic reaction to a
bug bite, but many tests were run as they try desperately to figure out how to
help this sweet dog. By 5:00 a.m., they were able to stabilize our darling Cheska
and were able to ascertain that her blood counts were fine, which ruled out any
internal bleeding, at that point.
But this darling girl is not out of the woods yet! She is going to be further
evaluated this Thursday by other vets and surgeons as they have now realized
her liver enzymes are through the roof! (They had quadrupled from her levels on
Sunday!). This could be the result of her hypotensive episode on Sunday, but they
just don’t know at this point. It could be an indicator that there are new worries
and troubles to come.
Please keep Francesca in your prayers and thoughts as she and her foster Mom
need our support so much! But we at Angels also need your support, financially,
to help pay the mounting bills for this sweet pup! With us not knowing yet the
full extent of what we are facing to care for her and get her well, the need and the
bills are climbing daily! We have so many hurting right now – won’t YOU step up
and help us help them to be well and whole again? Thank you so much!

Alanna
February 21st, 2012
This precious, 1-year old Black Flat-Coated Retriever mix was found in a rural shelter, badly burned along the shoulder part of her back, continuing down her left side across her foreleg, down onto her left front paw. The pain she was enduring inside that dark, awful shelter must have been horrific, yet this precious, hurting girl was still wagging her tail, looking at us with eyes of love and desperation, begging for someone to help her find a way to ease that awful pain pulsing along and inside her body! With the help of donations and support, Angels was able to immediately get her to one of the top veterinary hospitals in our area, to be assessed by their emergency team of vet specialists.Posted in Dogs, Rescue Stories | No Comments »

Sybil
February 10th, 2012
Hello, my name is Sybil! While I look beautiful and happy, I am actually very sick. Several months ago, I was found wandering the streets, starving and homeless in Dekalb County. They think I had been lost for a long time because I was so skinny. When I was finally picked up from Animal Control, AAU and their veterinarians learned that I had heartworms AND a liver shunt. A liver shunt is just another way of saying that blood is not flowing through my liver, and that’s really bad. Since I am only 2.5 years old, the doctors say that I can eventually live a healthy life, but only if I can get immediate surgery and medical care. Please help me live a long, healthy life! I love lounging on the couch at my foster mom’s house and snuggling in the warm sheets. Please donate and help me get well.

Captain
January 30th, 2012
Hi! I’m Captain, a boxer puppy. I was found on the side of the road in the country left for dead after being hit by a car. I broke two legs and need pins and such to save my legs. The vets soon found out that I am deaf. They think I was standing in the road and couldn’t hear the car coming when I got hit.
Despite my pain and my horrible
misfortune, I’m the sweetest boy so happy to be alive.
When his rescuer picked his body off side of road, Captain just kept licking her. Please chipin to help Captain and/or share with your contacts. Please pray I can keep both my legs.
Share and spread the love for this special dog.
He will need a foster quiet enough for recovery and an adopter as well, but being deaf, he will need a very special home. He does well with dogs, cats and chickens believe it or not! He pretty much loves everyone and everything.

Popcorn
January 27th, 2012
All, Popcorn is just a lil ittty bitty kitty that we found in the freezing rain while looking for our lost foster dog. She started life all very rough. Now the lil baby ate a rubbery substance that totally obstructed her intestines. She had to have the vet perform emergency surgery on her or she would have died. The obstruction was too large to pass and it had already been in her for awhile. Please help our lil girl. She is in guarded condition right now.
God Bless,
Kim

Cindy
January 27th, 2012
Cindy is a 5 month old puppy that was brought into the Hall co Animal Shelter after getting into rat poison. She was bleeding from the nose, her gums were ghost white and she was very thin. She was on death’s door. The vet on site gave her two blood transfusions at her home from her own dog. She made the news in Hall County.
After she got her strength back, they noticed that Cindy’s leg started to bow. The shelter believed this would correct itself once she began receiving proper nutrition.
Angels Among Us rescued her the week of Christmas. After almost a month, it didn’t seem that her leg was any better so we took her to a specialist. Cindy has a joint deformity that requires surgery WHILE SHE IS STILL GROWING. Will this girl ever get a break? She loves everyone and doesn’t let her deformity stop her. She is the happiest puppy ever!
This procedure is her best shot at saving her elbow and allowing Cindy to live a normal life.
She is currently in an awesome foster home with 4 young kids and many other furry friends.
Please share Cindy’s story.
We need to operate ASAP. Bless you!
